Irish fans thought they would have to wait til October 6th, 2012 season to see their historic rivaly renewed agains't Miami at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. Christmas came early this year, giving Notre Dame the chance to prove itself against a very tough Miami team in the Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas on December 31st at 2pm (EST) on CBS. Both teams are 7-5 and had stuggles this season. Notre Dame struggled earlier in the season before rallying and winning their last 3 games (Utah, Army, USC). Miami, on the other hand, has sturggled late in the season, losing their last 2 games of the year (Virginia Tech, South Florida). Miami worse losses came from Virginia (4-8 this season) and South Florida (7-5 this season). Shortly after the season, Miami fired its head coach, Randy Shannon, and recently hired Al Golden from Temple. Jeff Stoutland, the interim head coach and former offensive line coach, will coach the team in the upcoming bowl game verse the Irish.
My Prediction:
The game will feature alot of talent and should preview what the upcoming series will be like. I predict an Irish victory, 23-13, in a game where the Irish defense establishes itself early and often. Go Irish!
